Zu FramedClouds und Hintergrundfarbe habe ich folgendes gefunden:
FramedCloud popups are based on an image, configured via the Popup Javascript and the image path. In order to change the background color, one needs to make a new image, and replace the framed-cloud.png path references to point to the new image.

Deswegen gibts bei OpenLayers.Popup.Framed noch die Funktion setBackgroundColor, bei OpenLayers.Popup.FramedCloud
hingegen nicht.
Also in Openlayers das Cloud-Image ändern oder ein anderes Popup nehmen.
OpenLayers.Popup.AnchoredBubble würde sich anbieten, bei diesem kann man mit setBackgroundColor eine Hintergrundfarbe und sogar mit setOpacity die Opacity setzen. Hab ich probiert, funktioniert wunderbar.
