Welche Daten für die Höhenlinien bei der Reit- und Wanderkarte?

Hallo Forum,
ich habe es gerade geschafft mit Mapnik eine eigene Karte zu rendern, die neben den OSM Daten auch Höhendaten der NASA (http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/) enthält. Das klappt auch ganz ausgezeichnet. Folgende Seite beschreibt ein Problem der Höhendaten:

A problem of this data in some areas is that they have gaps, where the data acquisition could not determine the elevation. This occurs e.g. in some regions with snow, such that these gaps occur relatively often in the Alps. An alternative are the data provided by CIAT/CSI, which used other available DEM sources or sophisticated interpolation algorithms to fill these gaps. Unfortunately, this data is available only for non-commercial purposes, and thus contradicts the OSM CC by sa license. It might be okay to use it for private purposes, but the resulting images/maps cannot be published.

Da ich die Karten vor allem im Alpenraum brauche, ist das schon ein großer Nachteil. Bestes Beispiekl ist das Matterhorn. Der steile Gipfel ist bei mir eine Lücke. NICHT JEDOCH auf der Seite der Reit- und Wanderkarte: http://topo.openstreetmap.de/. Weiß jemand den Grund? Wie konnten diese Lücken in den Höhenlinien gschlossen werden? Interpolation andere Datenquelle???

Ich wäre für Tips sehr dankbar.
