I doubt "brand:wikidata=Q38076" will disappear. I don't think there will be a Wikidata entry for every McDonalds in the world. On the other hand, yes, having all these tags duplicating Wikidata is silly. We should at some point decide the fate of other tags like "should there be a population tag in OSM?" Population is rarely "the ground truth". Instead, it is usually copied from some government source.
